Pack light and be ready for the three islands as we explore Faial, Pico and Sao Jorge, which make up the triangle of the Azores islands. Each one is unique and magnificant in its own way. Become acquainted with the mountain of Pico (the highest point in Portugal) as it becomes your backdrop for 9 days. We will explore volanoes, vineyards, fajas and planaltos. We'll hike, drink, eat and be swept up in the magic of these islands.

Kristi made her first trip to Terceira in 2018. She was blown away by the beauty, hospitality and tranquility of the island and its' people.
Six islands later and she's made it her job to help people visit these amazing islands and have the adventure of a life time!
Darcio is native Azorean born on the island of Faial. After time in America, the Netherlands and mainland Portugal Darcio made his home in Terceira.
Darcio is a certified Geopark guide with a passion for nature and history. By our standards Darcio is the best tour guide in the Azores and our clients tend to agree!
Here's the itinerary for your time in the Triangle Islands - Faial, Sao Jorge and Pico!
After an early check in at the Azoris Faial Garden hotel you can eat breakfast and join us for a quick walk around the city of Horta.
We'll then leave you to rest and join you again in the lobby to walk down to Peter's Cafe for a "Welcome" Gin and snacks.
We will start this full day tour bright and early! First, we'll visit the Espalamaca area to learn about the history of Faial. Our next stop will be the beautiful beach of Praia do Almoxarife and then on to the Caldeira where we'll hike the rim with astounding views! After our hike, all will enjoy a traditional lunch. We'll finish the day in Capelinhos and see first hand how volcanoes form land and what the passage of time does to a landscape.
Our third day will start with a free morning. Sleep in, relax, explore the city and after lunch we'll begin our tour. We'll visit the beautiful sights of Monte da Guia and Morro de Castelo Branco, the natural pools at lajihna, try the island cheese at the Fabrica queijo Morro and then we'll finish the day in Horta with dinner cooked on lava stones.
We'll be packing up and leaving for our next island in the morning!
Today will be a long day, but we promise it'll be worth it! Wear hiking clothes and be packed and ready to go, We have an 8:00am ferry to catch! We'll arrive in Sao Jorge at 10:00 and we'll be taking a taxi to the start of our hike. We'll start at Serra do Topo and hike down the mountain with gorgeous views and waterfalls to the stunning Faja of Santo Christo. Accessible only by walking or 4 wheeler, this location will truly be a highlight of your trip! We'll eat lunch in Santo Christo, and continue our hike to Faja dos Cubres, where we will be picked up and taken to our lodging.
Today we'll visit the oldest coffee plantation in the Azores in the village of Vimes. The way there is a drive down a long and windy road where you'll see no less than TEN waterfalls along the way. Try the unique coffee and pastries that you can't find anywhere else. We'll continue our tour with a stop at the eastern end of the island to see Topo. Enjoy lunch with a view and then continue on to the swimming pools of Ovidor, feel the arms of Velas and, if the weather allows, enjoy a stunning sunset at Rosais.
We'll begin our day with a private boat ride to Pico. We'll check in to our hotel and then head to the vineyard of Buraca for a tour and tasting of the wine. We'll head back for a walk around Madalena and lunch. You'll have the rest of the afternoon to relax and explore.
Today we'll explore the south coast of Pico as we head to the village of Lajes for lunch and a whale watching tour with Espaço Talassa, the oldest whale watching company of the Azores.
Today we'll get to know Mount Pico as we explore the mountain Planalto. You'll feel like you're on another island as we alternate between green pastures, cows, views of the other islands and, of course, the Mountain of Pico. We'll come down from the mountain, enjoy a delicious lunch, and continue along the north coast to Sao Roque, with a stop at the whale museum on the way back to Madalena.
Our final day on Pico will start with an 1.5 hour hike through the longest lava tubes in Europe. We'll enjoy a nice lunch and then leave you to pack and enjoy the rest of your afternoon.
We'll have our final dinner together at the remarkable Lava Homes.
Enjoy your last breakfast on Pico before we check out and head to the airport. You'll be sure to enjoy your last view of Pico from the sky!
