New Year's in Sao Miguel

After checking into the hotel you can grab breakfast and take a quick walk around the city of Ponta Delgada.  

We'll then leave you to rest and join you again at 6:00 in the lobby for a "Welcome" dinner down by the harbor.

Today we'll start the day with the magnificant Lagoa do Fogo - Lake of Fire.  You'll be blown away by views of this stunning virgin untouched beach.  We'll next head to the north coast city of Ribeira Grande.  We'll visit Santa Barbara beach, walk the marginal, enjoy lunch and try the liquors of Mulher de Capote.  We'll then head to the beautiful waterfall of Salto do Prego.  We'll stop at the hot springs of Caldeira Velha to relax and then we'll head back to Ponta Delgada to get ready for the evenings celebrations!

Today we rest and recuperate from our New Year's celebration.  Explore the city, try out the hotels heated pool and spa and enjoy the first day of the new year!

We'll leave the hotel early for this adventure.  Stopping first at the point of Santa Iria which give you breathtaking coast line views.  We'll then stop at the tea plantation of Porto Formosa and try the black tea of the oldest tea plantation of Europe.  After tea we'll head to Furnas where you'll see the active steam geysers and for lunch we'll try the cozido, the traditional meal prepared in the geysers.  We'll end the day with a soak in the gorgeous hot springs of Posa Beija.

Today we'll follow the south coast as we stop at the beach of Sao Roque.  We'll stop in Villa Franco do Campo at the factory to try their famous quejada pastry.  We'll then continue on to Terra Nostra Gardens and hot springs where we'll spend the rest of the day exploring the stunning botanical gardens and relaxing in the hot spring.

Today we start at the pineapple plantation and learn about the unique way pineapples are grown in the Azores.  We'll then continue on to explore Sete Cidades (Seven CIties) from top to bottom.  Enjoy views from the Kings view point and then we'll continue down to visit the city  and have a buffet lunch with traditional foods.  We'll spend time at the lakes edge and end our day with sunset at Moisteros.

Today we'll start by exploring the iconic landscape of the Goreanna Tea Plantation.  We'll then continue to the east side of the island as we spend time in the gorgeous park of Ribeira dos Caldeiros.  We'll meander the trails of this old water mill village and enjoy the views in every direction.  We'll continue on the visit Nordeste and Povoacao and stop at the waterfall of Ribeira Quente before we head back to Ponta Delgada for our final dinner together.

All good things must end.  Enjoy your final breakfast and take your last stroll through Ponta Delgada before we depart for the airport.
